Recent Events
14-15 September 2008 Bomb, Bullets & Bayonets. The Great War was the focus of this weekend event which was supported by re-enactors who gave demonstrations of trench clearing and first aid at the front. In contrast, present day soldiers supported the event to demonstrate the equipment and wepons used today.

30-31 August 2008 Pick up Tha Musket
. The second event of the year focused on the weapons of war and proved to be a well attended and popular event. The Museum small arm weapon collection was on display and were available to handle after a presentation from Andy Robertshaw. A small number of military vehicles were also on display outside the Museum and we hope to see them back in 2009.

23-24 March 2008 Food in the Field. Snow, hail and freezing temperatures failed to deter visitors to the first major event of 2008. Tracing the history of rations, feeding and Chefs from the Napoleonic Wars to the present, the event is estimated to have attracted over 750 people. Convincing re-enactors interpreted history and gave a fascinating insight into life behind the lines whilst serving soldiers showed off their skills on the very latest field catering equipment. It was a superb and highly educational weekend for the whole family.
30 June 2007 Corps Weekend, Deepcut. A rather wet day might have kept some people away but the Museum staff and the Friends put together an enticing display. Andy Robertshaw's Re-enactors (below) kept everyone plied with tea, bashed pan, demonstrated the Great War horse ambulance and showed off some of the weapon collection. The Friends signed up a good number of new members, and paraded their new corporate image for the first time.

15 February 2007 Pioneer Battalions in the Great War by Dr Bill Mitchinson. Bill Mitchinson gave a superb lecture on the formation, development and employment of Pioneers, their relationship with the Royal Engineers and their organisation of intelligent labour. His expertise as a member of the Centre for First World War Studies was evident throughout. It was a fascinating start to the 2007 events programme, and we were delighted to welcome 120 recruits from the Army Training Regiment, Pirbright to the event as well as friends old and new. 23 November 2006 Awards of The George Cross by John Frayn Turner. Prolific author John Frayn Turner presented his lecture on awards of the George Cross since its inception. His talk was supported by a display of original GCs from the Museum's collection and the RASC/RCT Collection, kindly arranged by Lt Col David Owen, as well as various pictures and other artefacts.
28 September 2006 3-2-1 BOMB GONE by Colonel Steve Smith MBE. Colonel Smith is a serving Royal Logistic Corps officer, Ammunition Technical Officer and Commandant of the Defence Explosives, Munitions and Search School (DEMSS). His superb lecture covered the fight against terrorist bombers in Northern Ireland and was based on his new book '3-2-1 Bomb Gone'.
